Here at 570 Press, we thrive on supporting local bands, artists, and businesses, but we also love getting in on supporting international artists as well. So, we reached out to Hopeful Sixteen (from Quebec City, Quebec) to learn more about their music, their passion, and their story.
Influenced by bands like Blink-182, Periphery, Slipknot, Northlane, and Marilyn Manson, Hopeful Sixteen is a Rock/Alt Metal band hailing from Quebec City, Quebec. On stage, they bring the energy and give a very theatrical performance with instrumental interludes similar to that of movie soundtracks. The band uses their passion for music to transport their audience to another world for a few hours and to feel that they are a part of something.
The band originally formed in 2013 with singer Stephanie, guitarist Ced, and drummer Simon. Stephanie formed the band with other members and soon after, Ced moved to Quebec City from Montreal and jumped in. Once Simon got into the mix, the line up came together fully in 2015. Now, in 2020, they are excited to be releasing a new EP titled “Delusion”.
All three of the band members found their passion in music when they were young and they never gave up. When asked what they would tell their seventeen year old selves, they all expressed great advice that we at 570 Press support 100% for any artist out there: Don’t give up, don’t be afraid to speak up, trust yourself, and surround yourself with good people.
Hopeful Sixteen kept at it and now they are releasing “Delusion”, their new EP. “Delusion” is heavily influenced by classic movies and horror movies, giving it a great noir feel. The EP addresses the struggles that we all have within ourselves such as self-doubt, self-esteem, and depression. Their favorite song on the EP is “Chemical”. The song is a self-introspection of how we see ourselves and how we feel in relation to other people’s expectations.
We asked the band if they could work with any one artist, who would they choose, they gave us a resounding “Dave Grohl”. Stephanie, Ced, and Simon work hard to make their passion a success and part of their inspiration to do that is Dave Grohl. They have great respect for him as an artist, how far he’s come, and how hard he’s worked to get there. As they said, to be able to work with the man would be a dream come true.
Thus far, the band’s favorite show they’ve played was at L’anti Bar in Quebec City when they opened for Secrets and Picturesque where the crowd was amazing and everyone had a blast. Currently, the band is looking into booking tour dates for a U.S. tour in 2021 and we just have to say, “Please make a pit stop in Scranton, PA!”
“Delusion” will be on all streaming platforms on November 7, 2020, but you can go to Hopeful Sixteen’s website and buy your digital copy now.
